Kettering College Physician Assistant Faculty Member Receives Honor

Sheidler named AAPA Distinguished Fellow
Kettering, Ohio (Feb. 27) — Jeb Sheidler, assistant professor and alumnus of the physician assistant department at Kettering College of Medical Arts, recently was recognized as a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA).

Sheidler earned the AAPA recognition as a Distinguished Fellow for his outstanding contributions to patient care and to the profession during his 17 years as a physician assistant and PA educator. He joined a select number of outstanding PAs who have distinguished themselves among their colleagues, as well as in their communities, by their service to the physician assistant profession, their commitment to advancing health care for all people, and by their exemplary personal and professional development.

Sheidler was one of only 10 physician assistants in the state of Ohio to receive this honor for 2009. Joining him on the Ohio list were fellow Kettering College alumni Robert Ensign ’81 and Douglas Eulberg ’81.

“It’s quite an honor to be acknowledged for my dedication to PA education both in the classroom and on clinical rotations and for my commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy community. It’s also humbling to be in the company of so many great PAs who have made such an impact on our profession,” said Sheidler. “I know that my education at Kettering College prepared me well for my career as a physician assistant, and that was the greatest reason I returned here to assist in providing the same kind of quality education that I received more than 17 years ago.”

Sheidler is a 1991 graduate of Kettering College’s physician assistant program.  He also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Miami University and a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska.

Kettering College is one of just five schools in the state of Ohio to have a physician assistant department and is the only one in southwest Ohio.  One of the oldest PA departments in the country, Kettering College has been educating physician assistants since 1973.
