Kettering, Ohio (Aug. 1) — Jack Burdick will join the administration at Kettering College of Medical Arts as Chief Business Officer, announced college president Dr. Charles Scriven on Tuesday.

In this new position, Burdick’s primary responsibilities will be to analyze, track, plan, and forecast college finances; to create business plans for new academic initiatives; and to lead the college budget process.  Burdick also will oversee student finance operations, institutional and federal aid programs, student loan counseling, governmental reporting, student billing, student work-study employment, and bookstore operations and he will function as liaison with Kettering Medical Center for business, physical plant concerns, and security.

“Jack Burdick is sharp.  He’s vigorous.  He’s going to be good at working with our people, and we’re very happy that he’s agreed to come to Kettering College,” said Scriven.

A financial professional with 17 years of experience in accounting, finance, information technology, and financial aid, Burdick comes to Kettering College after a three-year stint as Director for Student Financial Services at Union College in Lincoln, Neb. While there, he served as the chair of the Finance and Audit Committee for the Nebraska Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators during 2006. Burdick was chair of Union’s Student Finance Committee and was a member of many other on-campus committees, including the Administrative Software Evaluation, Admissions, and Scholarship Committees.

Prior to his arrival at Union, Burdick held a variety of business and finance positions in the for-profit sector, including five years at Scientific-Atlanta, Inc., and four years at MCI Telecommunications Corporation.

A Certified Public Accountant, Burdick earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of the South in 1987 and followed that with a Master of Business Administration from Vanderbilt University in 1989.  He is expected to begin work at the college at the end of September.
