Kettering College Dedicates New Building During Fall Convocation
DURING ITS ANNUAL FALL CONVOCATION SEPT. 1, Kettering College of Medical Arts dedicated the new Boonshoft Center for Medical Sciences.
Approximately 500 members of the College community gathered at the Kettering Seventh-day Adventist Church for a service that featured a brief message from President Charles Scriven, Ph.D. In his message, “Blessed to Be a Blessing,” Scriven focused on the gift of the new facility and the gifts that the College family will be able to give to others as a result.
“When God made His promise to Abraham, He said, ‘You will be blessed, so that you can be a blessing.’” Scriven said. “This new building comes our way so that we can be a blessing.
“Kettering College asks the very best of you and of me. When you come here, you are embracing a call to service, embracing a higher vision. By the grace of God, we can move toward that goal. We can say ‘yes’ to high ideals and can embrace the blessing that has come our way by being a blessing ourselves.”
During the service, Scriven presented a commemorative plaque to Larry Beneke, the director of Kettering College’s radiologic sciences and imaging program, in tribute to Beneke’s dedication and perseverance while serving as the College’s primary liaison with the various entities involved in the construction of the new building.
After the president’s message, the College family processed to the Boonshoft Center for a responsive reading and a dedicatory prayer by College chaplain Clive Wilson. A reception followed.
The Boonshoft Center for Medical Sciences has provided the College with state-of-the-art facilities including a new computer lab, library, academic support center, student center, classrooms, and biology and chemistry labs. The building’s new anatomy and physiology labs remain under construction but are anticipated to be ready in time for winter semester. |
