Admission Requirements

In addition to meeting the requirements for admission to KCMA, BSN completion program applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Completion of an associate’s degree or its equivalent in nursing: To assist diploma nurses to establish credit equivalent to an associate’s degree, KCMA will grant 39 semester credits for the nursing courses taken in the diploma program. An additional block of 25 semester credits in supporting courses is required. These credits may be obtained by taking courses at KCMA, by transferring credit, or by receiving credit by examination. Students will be advised regarding options.
- Possession of a current unencumbered registered nurse license. Students in process of licensure may enroll in a maximum of 12 credit hours of upper-division nursing theory courses without being accepted to the BSN completion program. This is called the “12 credit hour option.”
PRE-ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS
To enroll in the program, the following requirements must be met:
- Computer proficiency in the Windows environment that includes word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, the ability to surf the Internet, and the use of e-mail and attachments.
- . High-speed access to the Internet and possession of an e-mail address.
- A computer that is newer than 3 years old. Any computer older than 3 years may not meet the requirements for on-line work.
