Admission Requirements
Promoting good health today prevents treatment tomorrow
Admission to the Kettering College medical sonography program is competitive and occurs one time during the academic year for fall entry. Preference will be given to individuals who demonstrate academic strength in the prerequisite courses. Prerequisites may be taken at Kettering College prior to applying for the medical sonography program.
College admission: Applicants must meet all Kettering College admission requirements.
GPA: Applicants must present transcripts reflecting a GPA of 2.5 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for all prerequisite courses and previous college credits. A minimum grade of C- is required for transfer credit.
Prerequisite courses: Courses must be completed at Kettering College or a regionally accredited college or university (27 to 30 hours); see the Academic Bulletin for more information.
Computer proficiency: All students should be proficient in document preparation, Internet search, and e-mailing.
CPR: All medical sonography students must be certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by completing the class offered by KCMA during the first medical sonography clinical course in the program.
Background check: Students must have a criminal background check performed by a College-approved service no more than six months prior to beginning clinical experience. Commencement of the clinical portion is contingent upon successful clearance.
Technical standards: Applicants must comply with certain physical and health requirements defined as technical standards. The standards are described on the program technical standards page.
Deadline: Applications are accepted until April 1 of the year in which the student wishes to be accepted. All documentation is due May 1. |
